Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Taste Your Emotions ~unplugged~ This is the second revised and expanded version of the earlier work “Taste Your Emotions” a book containing poems only each telling a story of the struggle for physical, emotional, and spiritual sobriety. The poems inside this book express a variety of emotions taking you through an experience from deep pain to the joy of emotional freedom. Attempting to balance between a short memoir written in a creative way, self-help book of sorts, as well as grouped enlightened writing trying to lead others in embarking of self freedom. Thus this book is simply not a book of poems and writings it is a dark journey of pain, confusion and addiction leading to a bright awakening of the heart and mind. The poems and writing are both heavy, raw, thought provoking, even forceful in there convictions at times and they are also light and touching in there innocence at other times, culminating in a moving expression of strength and determination. You will not just read these poems and writings you will experience them think about them, be moved by them and maybe if I am lucky even be some what changed by them. What was changed from the first edition was some poems of lesser relevance where removed. More back ground to the author his life and experiences behind the poems was added which makes the read much richer and deeply connecting. Likewise there is added writing on the thinking and philosophies which brought about his ever evolving and life enriching change. One mantra he lives by now which he created is: KNOW yourself, LOVE yourself, & BE yourself. Comments from Past readers: Well-organized and powerful/life-affirming works ~ Chris Massey A compilation of life's struggles and victories ~ Timothy Talosi Fascinating Read ~ Pat Sturt The poems are very emotional, touching to the heart ~ Tonya Graham The title is right on. As I read this book I experienced deep feelings and emotions. Most books don't touch my soul the way this one does ~ Becky Sedgwick

Download pdf or read book Emotion, Imagination, and the Limits of Reason written by Talia Morag and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-06-17 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emotions pose many philosophical questions. We don't choose them; they come over us spontaneously. Sometimes emotions seem to get it wrong: we experience wrongdoing but do not feel anger, feel fear but recognise there is no danger. Yet often we expect emotions to be reasonable, intelligible and appropriate responses to certain situations. How do we explain these apparent contradictions? Emotion, Imagination, and the Limits of Reason presents a bold new picture of the emotions that challenges prevailing philosophical orthodoxy. Talia Morag argues that too much emphasis has been placed on the "reasonableness" of emotions and far too little on two neglected areas: the imagination and the unconscious. She uses these to propose a new philosophical and psychoanalytic conception of the emotions that challenges the perceived rationality of emotions; views the emotions as fundamental to determining one's self-image; and bases therapy on the ability to "listen" to one’s emotional episode as it occurs. Emotion, Imagination, and the Limits of Reason is one of the first books to connect philosophical research on the emotions to psychoanalysis. It will be essential reading for those studying ethics, the emotions, moral psychology and philosophy of psychology as well as those interested in psychoanalysis.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global icon, award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, actress, mother, daughter, sister, storyteller and artist finally tells the unfiltered story of her life in The Meaning of Mariah Carey. It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments – the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams – that contributed to the person I am today. Though there have been countless stories about me throughout my career and very public personal life, it’s been impossible to communicate the complexities and depths of my experience in any single magazine article or a ten-minute television interview. And even then, my words were filtered through someone else’s lens, largely satisfying someone else’s assignment to define me. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side. Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit. Love, Mariah

This book was released on 2020-11-04 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gathers 14 original contributions published in an IJERPH Special Issue that deal with the perception of environmental sounds and how such sounds are likely to affect human quality of life and well-being and the experience of a place. The research focus over the years has been gradually shifting from treating sound simply as “noise” and something that cities should get rid of to a potential “resource” to promote and support community life in public spaces. Three main topics or “needs” to be addressed by researchers and practitioners emerged from this Special Issue: (1) the need to re-think “quietness” in cities as something that goes beyond the mere “pursuit of silence”, (2) the need to integrate additional contextual factors in the characterization and management of urban acoustic environments for public health, and (3) the need to consider the acoustic quality of indoor spaces as opposed to an outdoor-only perspective. The contributions collected in this book will hopefully trigger new questions and inform the agenda of future researchers and practitioners in the environmental acoustics domain.

Download pdf or read book The Evolution of Emotional Communication written by Eckart Altenmüller and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2013-01-24 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do we think that we can understand animal voices - such as the aggressive barking of a pet dog, and the longing meows of the family cat? Why do we think of deep voices as dominant and high voices as submissive. Are there universal principles governing our own communication system? Can we even see how close animals are related to us by constructing an evolutionary tree based on similarities and dissimilarities in acoustic signaling? Research on the role of emotions in acoustic communication and its evolution has often been neglected, despite its obvious role in our daily life. When we infect others with our laugh, soothe a crying baby with a lullaby, or get goose bumps listening to classical music, we are barely aware of the complex processes upon which this behavior is based. It is not facial expressions or body language that are affecting us, but sound. They are present in music and speech as "emotional prosody" and allow us to communicate not only verbally but also emotionally. This groundbreaking book presents a thorough exploration into how acoustically conveyed emotions are generated and processed in both animals and man. It is the first volume to bridge the gap between research in the acoustic communication of emotions in humans with those in animals, using a comparative approach. With the communication of emotions being an important research topic for a range of scientific fields, this book is valuable for those in the fields of animal behaviour, anthropology, evolutionary biology, human psychology, linguistics, musicology, and neurology.
